Since last night, the TV5 viewers were very surprised with the abrupt changes with their programming schedule, and the AniMEGA viewers had been left clueless on what will be the fate of their favourite Anime block on television.
For those who haven’t heard about it, the showbiz oriented talk-show Juicy will now be moving to a more later timeslot, at 11:30pm and competing with ABS-CBN’s Showbiz News Ngayon (hosted by Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino), because of the addition of DJ Mo Twister.
But the one surprising change in the schedule was the popular talakserye, Jerry Springer-like Face to Face rerun, which was airing at 12:00am, will now be moved during primetime hours, at 10:30pm.
And this Monday’s 5MAX Movies is airing at 07:30pm, which was formerly occupied by D.Gray-man, from their former timeslot at 10:00pm.
For the Past 48 hours, when the AniMEGA fans heard that the telecast of 5MAX Movie, which is Shrek 2 in Filipino Dubbing, is airing at 07:30pm, the AniMEGA fans and casual viewers have been dumbstrucked with what will happen on the TV5 AniMEGA block especially that the viewers were kept in the dark about impending schedule change.
This confusion resulted not only in the deluge of comments, violent reactions but also made all TV5 Kapatids wondering, “What the hell is happening to TV5?!”
According to the schedule that had been included in their programme guide (above), there had been no mention from AniMEGA and even on Prime Times 5, instead what was written on the print ad was their Koreanovelas, 5MAX Movies, News 5 programmes and the two additional programmes.
I really think this abrupt change really hurt some of TV5 audience, from my point of view was the AniMEGA fans.
Though I can understand Juicy since they got much powerful with the addition of Cristy Fermin and Mo Twister, and Face to Face with their “in your face” reality, but one thing I cannot understand is Why do they need to retain 5MAX Movies?
If you ask me, aside from Nick on TV5 in the afternoons, 5MAX Movies is one of those redundant time blocks on TV5. They seldom air popular movies during weekdays, and when they air premieres, they always air in on Weekends. Take note, 5MAX Movies was when TV5 was still being controlled by the Cojuangcos, It is one of those period where the network is currently experimenting every single move to make its prominence more easier to reach, and I think 5MAX Movies is doesn’t really rate that well, compared to its competitors, and unlike TV5 AniMEGA, it doesn’t have the clamor that they have.
Imagine this, How can TV5 show to other networks that they are different if they are airing a big chunk which is a waste of airtime, and How will they air some of their popular primetime programming, like 5Star Specials, Everybody Hapi, and others if there is one roadblock which is 5MAX Movies? Considering that the primetime is already packed with News 5 programmes, and horizontal programming like the two additions.
And if you ask me, TV5 can do the MYX on Studio 23 formula… Think about it, collect all audiences of 5MAX Movies and join them together on weekends!
I think the Experimenting stage is Over, it’s time to retire 5MAX Movies on weekdays.
Let TV5 move forward.
