Venue capacious enough to fill thousands of anime fans.
Braving rains and heavy traffic jams along the way, Hordes of people, most of them anime fans, converged at the SMX Convention Center function halls 4 and 5 to witness the second outing of The Best of Anime 2011 last weekend.
Organized by PrimeTrade Asia, BoA is considered as a “co-located” event of the 32nd Manila International Book Fair, the longest-running books expo in the country.
As expected, people lined up to the entrance located at the SMX Function Hall 4 to enter the convention, The venue itself is quite big and capacious, so it meant that when Cosplay Mania 2011 holds the event here, adding FH 3 to the two aforementioned Function Halls, it will be quite something to expect.
David Bellen, an eventgoer, noticed the comparison between this year’s event to last year’s
“Very much improved, ang malakas na naemphasize nila ay yung venue, dahil nga last year ay sobrang liit…. Plus the stage, it was remarkable” Bellen said.
A noticeable inclusion in the venue is a marriage booth, where a couple can be “married” inside the event venue, ZEN was fortunate to interview the “newlyweds” who were cosplayers.
The “priest” in the booth told ZEN that he forced the couple to wed in the booth because he was sponsoring it.
“Wag ka nang magtaka, ako yung namilit eh, wala na silang magagawa eh.” He said with a guffaw.
Then came first day’s All Star Cosplay, which boasted more than 50 cosplayers in contention for the title of All Star Cosplay chanpion.
Tessa Villareal, one of the judges in the competition, said that everyone who participated in the competition were all excellent.
This year’s Best of Anime surely beat its previous year’s event, and with more surprises to come, it is no wonder that Primetrade Asia will bring in more surprises for the third installment of this co-located event within a book fair.
The Best of Anime 2011 happened last September 17 to 18 at the SMX Convention Center.
