All New ‘Tween’ block to launch as well; to be called ANI-CHAN.
Anime channel ANIMAX is set to premiere Tales of the Abyss, Letter Bee Reverse, and Cardfight!! Vanguard this January. Also, they are about to launch ANI-CHAN, a new weekday time block targeting pre-teen audiences.
On the planet Audlant, global war is imminent between the Kingdom of Kimlasca and the Malkuth Empire. Their conflict had been prophesied in the Scores, a complete history of this world from its creation to destruction once written on mysterious stones. It also predicts the appearance of a new savior-hero, who is a red-haired male child with the name of “the Light of the Sacred Flame”.
Luke fon Fabre, a son of the noble family who has been confined in his father’s palace for years, feels impatient and defiant like any teenage boy. When a beautiful young lady named Tear suddenly intrudes into his training session and attacks General Van, who he respects as master swordsman, the spoiled kid is spirited away and brought on a series of great adventures through this alternate-reality world of swords and sorcery.
Produced by Sunrise, the anime studio behind hits such as the Gundam and InuYasha franchises, the 26-part Tales of the Abyss anime series is inspired by the role-playing videogame of the same title.
Directed by Kenji Kodama, who also worked on the popular anime Kekaishi and Detective Conan movies, while series composition was handled by Akemi Omode, who handled works such as Get Backers and God? Save Our King! (Kyo kara Maoh!).
Tales of the Abyss will premiere on January 05, 2012 (Thursday) and airs Weeknights at 07:30pm MNL, replacing Beelzebub.
As previously announced, Letter Bee Reverse will premiere on January 20, 2012 (Friday) and airs Weeknights at 11:00pm MNL, picking up from where Letter Bee left off.
Aichi used to be a shy 8th grader whom no one really took notice. He had nothing special going on in his life, and he did not have a particularly positive outlook on life either. He did, however, have one thing he held close to his heart and that was a card called “Blaster Blade” from a certain card game.
Finally he decides to bid his uneventful days farewell and participate in this card game known as “Vanguard.” The game is staged in a parallel universe on a planet called “Cray,” and its gameplay is so revolutionary it had immediately taken the world by storm.
Aichi quickly finds himself captivated by “Vanguard.” He, along with newfound game buddies such as Misaki Tokura and Kamui Katsuragi, battle many rivals, and enjoy fun and fulfilling days, all the while not forgetting to grow up.
Aichi is also on a mission – that is, to find a master Vanguard Fighter named Toshiki Kai and to fight him – again. Toshiki is a high schooler who is also a cold-hearted loner. For Aichi, Toshiki is something more – he is an important Vanguard Fighter who had first introduced Aichi to the card game.
So Aichi will practice, battle and polish his Vanguard fighting skills in the hope that he will someday, be able to battle his Vanguard idol Toshiki as his equal and to even get a nod of approval from him.
Cardfight!! Vanguard is an anime series adapted from the trading card game by Akira Ito, Satoshi Nakamura, and Bushiroad’s Takaaki Kitani.
Directed by Hatsuki Tsuji, who also worked on Akazukin Chacha and the 1997 film adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) while Tatsuhiko Urahata, who worked on the popular anime series Hajime no Ippo, will handle series composition.
The series premiered in Japan last January 08, and is set to have a second season next year.
Cardfight!! Vanguard will premiere on January 22, 2012 and airs Sundays at 11:00am MNL.
ANI-CHAN is the newest time block on ANIMAX which “specially caters to pre-teens who are growing to enjoy more complex and engaging stories than those of traditional cartoon series that they have grown up watching.” Programmes to be aired under the ANI-CHAN block are Naruto (Season 1) and Sergent Keroro (Season 3), which will premere on January 09 (Monday).
Naruto airs Weekday Afternoons at 04:30pm MNL, right after the repeat of the previous day’s episode.
Sergent Keroro airs Weekday Afternoons at 05:30pm MNL, right after the repeat of the previous episode.
The popular musical comedy anime is set to return on ANIMAX with K-ON! Complete Special, and will start on January 24 (Tuesday) and airs Weeknights at 11:30pm, replacing 07-Ghost.
