Acquires Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? sequel, Jormungand, new Lupin III series for online simulcast.
North American anime licensing company FUNimation Entertainment has announced at its panel in Anime Boston held last Saturday that it has acquired online simulcast licenses for three Spring 2012 anime titles, which includes Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? of the Dead, Jormungand, and Lupin III ~Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna~.
All three titles will be streamed on FUNimation‘s website and on the English Nico Nico site. Zombie and Lupin have already premiered in Japan on April 4, while Jormungand premiered on April 10, with a second season already slated to premiere in October which FUNimation has also licensed.
Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? of the Dead (promoted as Is It a Zombie? of the Dead) is a sequel to the romantic comedy/supernatural anime series Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? which first premiered in January 10 last year. It tells the story of high-schooler Ayumu Aikawa revived as a zombie by necromancer Eucliwood Hellscythe after being killed by a serial killer. He is then forced to fight against the “Megalo” when he deprived the magical-girl Haruna of her magic power.
Jormungand is adapted from the 11-volume manga series of the same name by Keitarou Takahashi. This action-themed anime series follows the young arms dealer Koko Hekmatyar and her crew as she sells weapons around the world on behalf of HCLI. It also focuses on the story of the crew’s new recruit Jonah, a former child soldier who ironically hates arms dealers who he suspects have killed his parents.
Lupin III ~Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna~ (promoted as Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine) is the latest incarnation in the Lupin III franchise to be directed by Sayo Yamamoto. The series will feature an entirely new voice cast in 16 years.
