First film set to open in Japanese theaters this Fall.
The staff & cast of the popular anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica has announced during a stage event at the Anime Contents Expo event on Sunday, April 1st, the titles of the two upcoming film adaptations of the hit anime series.
The first anime movie is titled “Hajimari no Monogatari” (Beginning Story), and the second movie is titled “Eien no Monogatari” (Eternal Story).
However, the story for either of the two anime films has yet to be revealed.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a “dark” magical-girl anime series directed by Bakemonogatari director Akiyuki Shinbo. Scripts had been written & supervised by Fate/Zero creator Gen Urobuchi, and Original Character Design by Ume Aoki.
The 12-episode anime series was aired in Japan from January to April last year, and has won numerous awards including major categories at the 1st Newtype Anime Awards.
Last November, Madoka producer Atsuhiro Iwakami had announced that the hit anime series will be given an anime film trilogy. The first two films will be a recap of the entire series, while the third will feature an entirely new story.
It was reported that the first movie is set to open in Japanese theaters this Fall.
