The 2012 Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention, also known as “ToyCon,” will be introducing several new innovations and new portions that will surely entice event-goers in going to the three-day event to be held on June 15-17 at the SM Megatrade Halls 1-3 and the function halls.
According to Pocholo Mallillin of Collectibles Unlimited, the organizers of ToyCon, they will introduce “Cosplay Universe”, a space where cosplay fans can enjoy taking pictures in six themed exhibit spaces.
The themed exhibit spaces are called “Anime Planet”, “SuperHero Stars”, “Movie Nebula”, “Toy Supernova”, “Gaming Galaxy” and “Kids Constellation”. This is in addition to the cosplay competition that will also be held.
This year, the event is celebrating the Philippine release of the third and last Batman movie installment from director Christopher Nolan titled “The Dark Knight Rises”. The event will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the GI Joe toyline.
ABS-CBN Corporation’s presence will be ultimately felt at the event with their side event called “AMPED Fest”. This is the online game event of ABS-CBN Interactive’s AMPED division and will also be the showcase for the division’s new online games.
ABS-CBN celebrities will also grace the event which is also sponsored by Smart Telecommunications, DC Comics, and Toy Kingdom, to name a few.
Vic Yap, also of Collectibles Unlimited, also revealed that they could possibly sell tickets from the SM Tickets facility so as to avoid the long lines that has happened in the past.
The organizers also discounted the possibility of moving from SM Megatrade Halls, saying that this has been their “Lucky venue.”
