ZEN Otaku Honbu has learned that the Pan-regional anime channel ANIMAX Asia is set to air new episodes of hit animes Hunter × Hunter and Sket Dance this May.
The four main characters reunite for the world’s largest auction in a sprawling metropolis called Yorknew City. Gon, Killua, and Leorio try different methods to make enough money to buy Greed Island, a Joystation video game that could help Gon find his father. Meanwhile, Kurapika works as a bodyguard for Neon Nostrade, flesh collector and daughter of the head of a Mafia family, in order for him to get closer to his clan’s scarlet eyes that are said to be auctioned at the said city. The Phantom Troupe, a group of thieves who had slaughtered Kurapika’s clan are also gathering at Yorknew City.
In the continuation of the series, the auction is once again on hold due to Phantom Troupe’s infiltration, and has become a brutal battlefield. Later, Gon and Killua are held captive by Phantom Troupe for the second time. Meanwhile, Kurapika and the others formed a plan to capture the Troupe’s leader.
The third installment of Hunter × Hunter premieres on May 22 (Wednesday) and airs Every Monday to Friday nights at 07:30pm, replacing Fairy Tail – Season 3.
Sket Dance follows the adventures of Kaimei High School’s campus support club, the ‘Sket Dan’ where ‘SKET’ is an acronym for ‘Support, Kindness, Encouragement, and Troubleshoot’. The three members of Sket Dan are dedicated to improving campus life and will solve any & all problems submitted by the staff or student body.
This season, Sket Dan deals with a variety of issues that range from the amusing to the serious. Also, catch the debuts of new characters Saaya Agata and Koma Morishita.
Sket Dance – Season 2 premieres on May 31 (Friday) and airs Every Monday to Friday nights at 11:00pm.
But surprisingly, We have also learned that the anime channel is also set to air the kiddie adventure anime Blue Dragon is also set to premiere on the channel next month.
Shu is a spirited boy with big dreams, but nothing he has dreamt of can prepare him for the world of magic and danger he’s about to enter. When he awakens a legendary shadow named Blue Dragon, Shu finds himself thrust into an epic adventure as he and his new comrades seek to stop the evil Gran Kingdom from dominating the world.
The Blue Dragon anime series is inspired by the role-playing video game developed by Mistwalker and Artoon and published by Microsoft Game Studios exclusively for the Xbox 360. Blue Dragon is based on a design by Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who also supervised development and wrote the plot. It also features art from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball. It was directed by Yukihiro Matsushita and animated by Studio Pierrot (Bleach).
The anime first premiered on the Filipino-language anime channel HEROtv, which is also ANIMAX Asia’s main competitor in the Philippines, in March 2009, and followed by parent network ABS-CBN four (4) months after. HEROtv has aired three (3) seasons of the anime, while ABS-CBN has just finished airing the second season.
Cartoon Network in the Philippines & Asia-Pacific region has also aired the anime in 2010, and there are also plans to air the anime on sister channel Toonami Asia, though no specific date on it’s airing.
Blue Dragon starts on May 29 (Wednesday), and new episode airs Every Weekday afternoons at 05:30pm on the “Ani-chan” block, replacing Little Battlers eXperience W.
