Toy Aficionados, Cosplayers and eventgoers swarm Megatrade; Hero Face Off Preparations in full swing.
It may have not rained in the Metro last Saturday but for everyone at the SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 1 to 3 and the Function Halls, People flooded to witness history once more.
The second day of the 12th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention (Toycon) were swarmed by event attendees, Toy Aficionados, Cosplayers or simple people who would want to buy some toys that could become part of their collections or took pictures with cosplayers.
Myrtle Sarrosa, Pinoy Big Brother winner and HEROtv’s “Anime Jock”, officially opened the second day with a formal ribbon cutting at the venue.
As expected, lines have formed in the two entry points of the SM Megamall Megatrade Halls, both Megatrade Hall 1 and Megatrade Hall 2. One line even went down as far as the third floor stairway.
Popular softdrink brand Coca-Cola was also swarmed for free cola to the eventgoers, while panel discussions from Toy Collectors, Justice League Cosplayers, Custom Made owners and Comic-book lovers also made the event more informative.
Among those who were spotted inside the event is current First Pacific Group Associate Director and Former MediaQuest President and CEO Atty. Ray C. Espinosa, GMA Network’s Maey Bautista and Mike “Pekto” Nacua, who shot an episode of GMA News TV’s lifestyle program “Day Off.”
Later, 63 cosplayers strutted their stuff in the Individual cosplay competition, which divided the categories into Chibi, Comics, Movie, Game and Anime categories
Among those who judged the cosplay competition is World Cosplay Summit Global Communications Head Ed Hoff, who flew in to Manila to be a witness for HERO Face Off 2013 which will happen on the event’s Third day.
Ashley Misaki won in the Chibi cosplay category with her impression of General Lu Bu of the video game Dynasty Warriors, while Kathy Tischler won in the Comics Category as SuperGirl. Mark Buenaventura (Batman – Movie Category), Christian Espinosa (Warrock – Game Category) and Elizabeth Ortega (“Gundam Exia” Girl – Anime Category) complete the cast of day one winners.
After the event, Preparations went on overdrive for HERO Face Off 2013, which will happen later at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 3 with Mikoy Morales and Myrtle Sarrosa hosting.
