The second season of The Squid Girl also set to premiere this month.
Pan-regional anime channel ANIMAX Asia has announced that the popular sci-fi action anime Star Driver is set to air on the channel this month.
On the fictional Southern Cross Island, the inhabitants of lead seemingly normal lives but far beneath the surface of this quiet island lies an ancient secret that lays dormant until Takuto Tsunashi washes ashore one night. Upon enrolling in Southern Cross Islan High School, Takuto and his friends become embroiled in a conflict with a clandestine society to control giant fighting robots, called Cybodies, sealed under the island and whose powers are bound by special shrine maidens. What secrets will Takuto unravel that will threaten to tear apart the entire island? (Synopsis from ANIMAX)
Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto is an anime series created & produced by the renowned anime studio BONES, which was directed by Takuya Igarashi, who also directed titles like Soul Eater and the second Gash Bell!! movie.
The scripts were written by Yoji Enokido, who also handled titles like Neon Genesis Evangelion and RaXephon, and character designs were handled by Yoshiyuki Ito, who worked on titles such as the Fullmetal Alchemist series, Eureka Seven AO, and will work on the upcoming Space Dandy anime series.
Star Driver premieres on December 30 (Monday), airing Monday to Friday nights at 11:00pm, replacing the anime block composed of Hyouka (Monday and Tuesday), the late-night encore of Copellion (Wednesday), and Hayate the Combat Butler: Can’t Take My Eyes Off You (Thursday and Friday).
Also set to premiere this month is the second season of the comedy anime The Squid Girl.
The nefarious Squid Girl is back to continue her self-appointed mission to invade the surface world. Or that’s what she would do, if she could just stop getting distracted by squidding movies, reading squidly manga, and making friends as only a squid could make them. Squid Girl must overcome not only danger found at every turn, but her own squidly good nature as well. (Synopsis from Anime News Network)
The second season premieres on December 17 (Tuesday), airing Monday to Friday afternoons at 04:30pm during the “Ani-chan” program block.
The anime channel is also set to have an Accel World catch-up marathon, 7-episodes back-to-back, airing Every Saturday nights (starting December 18) from 08:30pm to 12:00am.
Anime movies are also set to air on ANIMAX once again every Saturdays at 06:00am and 02:30pm, starting with Fairy Tail the Movie: The Phoenix Priestess on December 07, followed by Bleach: Memories of Nobody on December 14, Fafner: Dead Agressor – Heaven and Earth follows on December 21, and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos on December 28.
