The TAF Executive Committee said that in the light of the recent earthquake which has caused Power Supply, safety & security of the visitors and participants, alongside the reported damage of Tokyo Big Sight, where the event will be held, the organizers have decided to cancel this year’s event due to this consideration.
The TAF Executive Commitee has released a press release on their website:
First of all, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of all those who have lost relatives as a result of the Tohoku Earthquake as well as to convey our sincerest sympathies to many people who have been affected by this terrible disaster. It is our sincere hope to see a swift recovery of all the afflicted areas.
Due to the extreme circumstances, Tokyo International Anime Fair Executive Committee has decided to cancel the Fair this year. Meanwhile, Anime Content Expo (ACE) 2011, TAF 2011’s rival event is seriously considering all options and will post an announcement within a few days if the event will push-through. ACE 2011 is scheduled to be held on March 26 to 27 at Makuhari Messe Convention Center, located in Chiba Prefecture.
