This will be the start of a new segment called “I Therefore Conclude”. This segment is a review post, focusing on several anime series that ended last season. Thus, this would be “a source of recommendation” for all CitiZENs.
But before we get started, I would like to apologize from being inactive in ZEN. I’m quite busy for the past few days since I’ve started working. Because of that, I was unable to do the things I’m usually do during my 1-year “hibernation.” Anyway, let’s now proceed to the main topic of this post.
The majority of the past season was full of magical girl-themed anime. From Dream Eaters to Necromancers situated from the past to future. But as I observed, the Winter season this year is “the usual” and “the same.”
Some series might be exciting from the start, but in the end, you will be disappointed because of their poor storyline and disturbing characters. I blame those producers who are responsible for the massive changes of the anime. I wonder if they purposely doing that for a possible sequel or something else. Do they only have a relatively small budget which isn’t capable to create an episode that could have been accurate, and based from the manga itself? Are they following what Philippine dramas are doing? Is this a proof that the quality of Japanese anime really dropped?
I suggest to its writers and producers that they should create an anime different from one another. If they can’t, they could able to produce an anime that might catch the interest of every anime fans around the world.
Only two series that caught my interest and watched it from the beginning. Then there was a short hiatus, which was the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake last March 11. But when the shows ended, for me it satisfied me.
For some reason, I watched Infinite Stratos because of its unique storyline. It focuses on the life of Ichika Orimura, a young boy who attended the IS Academy, whose students were mostly girls! Ichika became a celebrity on the campus, because he is the first male student and the first male IS pilot. Then he met several people, from his older sister to his childhood friends and even his rivals, and in the end… they all fell in love with him.
Even though there was a lack of action sequence, the series itself is quite interesting. With its clean artwork and a powerhouse cast, Infinite Stratos is a must-watch show. You will never get bored watching it, especially on its fan service, particularly the hotspring scene of Ichika and Charlotte Dunois.
SATISFACTION RATING: 9/10 (Highly Recommended)
No doubt that Madoka Magica is the most popular anime of the previous season. It almost surpasses the popularity of other anime series, including K-ON! and Haruhi Suzumiya franchise. The fandom of the anime has scattered around the internet, from Pixiv to Nico Nico Douga.
Madoka Magica itself broke the traditions of magical girl/mahou shoujo anime. Looking back on the old days when magical girls are usually confronts evil forces using their powers from a graceful transformation to their weapons such as wand or a baton. This anime is exactly opposite.
You might be surprised who is really on the good side and the other is making the life of the heroine worse. Yes, being cute is now become a new face of evil!
In the end, the anime delivered a good ending. But somehow, I surmise that there will be no sequel. What I saw was enough. The most important part is that she sacrifices her life for the sake of humanity without any hesitations.
SATISFACTION RATINGS: 10/10 (Excellent)
