ANIMAX to continue Nodame series with Paris chapter, Finale.
ANIMAX continues its broadcast of the Nodame Cantabile series with the premiere of the second and third seasons, Nodame Cantabile: Paris and Nodame Cantabile: Finale, this August.
The Paris Chapter will premiere on August 16 (Tuesday) and will air Weeknights at 11:00pm MNL, replacing the first season of Nodame Cantabile. The third season, Nodame Cantabile: Finale, will follow on August 31 (Wednesday).
Megumi Noda, or ‘Nodame’, is a piano student at the Momogaoka College of Music. An extremely talented pianist who wants to be a kindergarten teacher, Nodame prefers playing by ear rather than reading the music score. She is messy and disorganized, takes baths several days apart and loves to eat, sometimes stealing from her friend’s lunchbox.
Shinichi Chiaki is Momogaoka’s top student. Born into a musical family, he is talented in piano and violin and has secret ambitions to become a conductor. An arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist who once lived abroad in the music capitals of the world as a young boy, Chiaki is now trapped in Japan because of his fear of flying.
Meeting each other by accident, Nodame quickly falls in love with Chiaki, but it takes much longer for him to even begin to appreciate Nodame’s personalities and unusual qualities. Their relationship causes them to develop and grow together. As opportunities come calling, both begin taking risks and stretch themselves far more than they ever thought possible.
In the second season, Nodame earns the opportunity to study in Paris and follows Chiaki who is also heading there to pursue his long-delayed dream of becoming an accomplished conductor he has always wanted to be. And as the different pursuits they undertake in Paris begin to pull them apart, Chiaki and Nodame have to find new ways of connecting with each other through their beloved music in the City of Romance.
In the final season, Nodame continues to pursue her goal to be good enough to perform a concerto with Chiaki. The latter continues to make a name for himself after the first successful performance of the Roux-Marlet Orchestra in many years. But as the couple grows from strength to strength in their individual pursuits, their efforts take an increasing toll on the relationship with each other. As Nodame enters her final year, but seemingly no closer to her goal of performing on the same stage with Chiaki, their relationship and music will have to evolve in the face of immense odds.
