Event to be held from March 31 to April 01 next year.
The list of more than 60 titles that will be featured at the 1st Anime Contents Expo has been announced by the event’s official website. The event will be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba located east of Tokyo from March 31 to April 01, 2012, exactly one week after next year’s Tokyo International Anime Fair to be held from March 22-25. ACE was originally scheduled to be held from March 26-27 this year, but was canceled due to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
The event is organized by a group of manga and anime companies as a response to the passage of the amendments to the Youth Healthy Development Ordinance by the Tokyo Assembly, which the manga and anime industry saw as a curtailment to their right to free expression. They have boycotted and pulled out their exhibitions at the Tokyo International Anime Fair, which was supposed to be held at the same days as ACE this year but was also canceled due to the disaster, in retaliation to the said amendments.
The list of titles to be featured at ACE, not all of which are anime-related, are:
Companies that will have their exhibits at ACE include ASCII Media Works, Aniplex, Animate, Enterbrain, Kadokawa Shoten, Good Smile Company,Cospa, Geneon Universal Entertainment Japan, Showgate, Nico Nico Douga, nitro+, NAVEL, Bandai Visual, 5pb., Starchild, Bushiroad, Broccoli, Frontier Works, Media Factory, ufotable, and Warner Home Video.
Shinichiro Inoue, president of manga publisher Kadokawa Shoten, has earlier stated in a tweet that his company will place their exhibit at ACE instead of the Tokyo International Anime Fair. The Yomiuri Shimbun has also reported that Aniplex plans to do the same.
Last January 1st, ZEN Otaku Honbu has been rebranded as Anime Pilipinas.
