New anime to premiere 23 years after first anime series ended.
Animation company Toei Animation has announced on Tuesday that the mythical fantasy anime Saint Seiya will return to television 23 years after the first anime series ended.
The series, entitled Saint Seiya Omega, is set to premiere this April 01.
Saint Seiya Omega will feature a new generation of “saints” led by protagonist Koga, a 13-year-old boy who assumed the role of the Bronze Saint of the Pegasus constellation. His undefeatable spirit and rebellious nature are strong, as is his single-minded determination. He meets the Saints and comes to learn about the importance of friendship and bonds. His special technique is the “Fist of the Pegasus Meteor.”

The director for the new anime project will be Morio Hatano, a director of some episodes of Heartcatch Precure! and Suite Precure. Reiko Yoshida, who handled numerous animes including D.Gray-man, Get Backers, and K-ON!, will be in charge of the scripts, while Casshern Sins’ character designer Yoshihiko Ukamoshi will also handle character designs and will also serve as the chief animation director.
The anime series was based on the original manga series by Masami Kurumada, and was published in Shueisha magazine Weekly Shonen Jump. It has inspired an anime series, and numerous movie & OVA adaptations.
