Kotetsu and Barnaby’s anime seiyuu to reprise roles.
In a rather unusual move, Tiger & Bunny the Live, the stage play adaptation of the superhero anime Tiger & Bunny, will have their two main protagonists Kotetsu Kaburagi and Barnaby Brooks, Jr. played by the voice actors of the said characters in the original anime series.
The stage play’s official website announced the cast list on Monday, and says that the play will have realistic action in hero “suits,” as well as the latest techniques in theatrical production. The two seiyuu, Hiroaki Hirata as Kotetsu and Masakazu Morita as Barnaby, are cast as their roles in the anime series outside of their hero costumes.
Tiger & Bunny the Live will feature an entirely new storyline and will introduce two original characters, Brain Bal and Babel. The play will be performed at the Zepp Diver City theater in Tokyo from August 24 to September 1.
Here is the cast list, together with some of the staff working on the play:
Playwright Tadahiro Mori will collaborate with noted anime scriptwriter Yasuko Kobayashi, whose works include Shakugan no Shana and Trigun: Badlands Rumble.
Two people will direct the play, Taisuke Moriasaki will be the principal director while Morihito Kamizato will be doing all the hands-on directorial work. Osamu Kaneda, who directed many Kamen Rider projects, will be an “acting creator” for the project.
