Both anime programmes set to air on “Team Animazing” block soon.
Philippine terrestrial network ABS-CBN has aired advertisements this week that anime titles Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan and Metal Fight Beyblade is set to air on the channel’s weekday “Team Animazing” block, though no airing date has been announced.
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan follows the life of Rikuo Nura, a 12-year-old boy who is three-quarters human and a quarter ‘yokai’, or supernatural creatures and demons that rule the night.
As the grandson of Nurarihyon, the supreme commander of the most powerful Nura clan of ‘yokai’, Rikuo is the successor-designate to his grandfather. Human at heart, Rikuo initially opposes the evil nature of the ‘yokai’ and rejects his role as the next head of the Nura clan. However, as he comes to terms with his true nature and discovers he can help humans by leading the ‘yokai’, Rikuo embraces his destiny and takes on leadership of the clan. In so doing, not only must he prove himself a worthy leader by assembling and commanding his very own ‘yokai’ army, but Rikuo will also have to contend with different factions and enemies looking to usurp his position.
The anime’s first season premiered on anime channel ANIMAX, which is the main competitor of ABS-CBN’s sister channel HEROtv, on February 2011 and it’s second season, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan ~Demon Capital~, premiered last May.
Metal Fight Beyblade follows a new cast of characters take on the continued battle between good and evil. Ginga, our hero, and his group of loyal friends take on a dangerous group called the Dark Nebula. Dark Nebula’s mission is to take over the world and unleash their evil upon it; but before they can do so, they must destroy Ginga as he is the only person that’s strong enough to stand in their way. The plot thickens as friends become enemies and enemies become allies. Everything starts and ends with Ginga as he struggles to find the strength to defend his world and the honor of Beyblade.
The anime was first aired on Cartoon Network Philippines in July 2010, and it was also aired on ABS-CBN’s weekend anime block in October 2010.
It is expected that the network will formally announce Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan and Metal Fight Beyblade as replacements for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds and Dinosaur King respectively in the coming days.
